LLDPE Floating Cubes for Floating Docks & Platforms

The Nusa Dock floating cube measures 150 × 100 cm — 6× larger than a standard floating cube — with polyurethane insulation inside. Modules connect into floating docks, platforms, stages, and small boat docks, and can be extended at any time.

The basics

What is a floating cube?

A floating cube (kubus apung) is a box-shaped pontoon module that floats on the water and locks to its neighbours to form a larger floating deck. Because it is modular, the shape and size can follow the site — straight, L, T, or U shapes, or a square platform for a stage or fishing pond.

Each module's buoyancy comes from the volume of water it displaces (Archimedes' principle). The more modules you connect, the more load the structure can carry — so the number of modules is calculated from the people, equipment, and boats it must support, not just the deck area. Floating cube sizes on the market

The floating cubes commonly sold on the market measure 50 × 50 × 40 cm. They are light enough for one person to carry, but a large dock or platform needs dozens or even hundreds of cubes locked together one by one.

Nusa Dock is a large-format floating cube: 150 × 100 × 40 cm, the equivalent of six standard cubes in a single module. One Nusa Dock module covers 1.5 m² of deck, so the same area needs far fewer joints.

Drawn to scale. For the same deck area, Nusa Dock uses 6× fewer modules — fewer joints, and a flatter, more solid deck.

Standard floating cubes are usually 50 × 50 × 40 cm and hollow. Nusa Dock is built at 150 × 100 × 40 cm, so one module covers the same area as six standard cubes. Its interior is filled with polyurethane insulation, so the module stays afloat even if the outer shell is scratched — read about the polyurethane core.

Why Bajau Indo

What makes our floating cubes different

UV-resistant, seamless LLDPE

The shell is rotomoulded in one piece with no welded seams, and withstands strong sun on open docks.

CFC-free polyurethane core

Unlike hollow standard cubes, our modules are filled with polyurethane insulation, so they stay afloat even if the shell is scratched. How the PU core works →

TKDN & ISO certified

Made in our factory in Sentul, Bogor. TKDN (local content) certification simplifies procurement for Indonesian government and state-owned projects.

Modular & easy to extend

Lengthen a dock or change its shape by adding modules. A damaged module can simply be replaced on its own.

Rust-free

Unlike steel pontoons, polyethylene does not corrode — suitable for seawater, brackish water, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.

Design it yourself

Lay out your floating cube dock in the Nusa Dock Designer (Indonesian), then send the design for a calculation and quote.

Sizing

How many floating cubes do you need?

Set the deck area & shape

One Nusa Dock module covers about 1.5 m² of deck. An 8 × 1.5 m dock (12 m²), for example, needs 8 modules.

Add up every load

Include the structure's own weight, people standing at the same time, equipment, and the loads from boats berthing and mooring.

Compare with buoyancy

Total buoyancy = number of modules × buoyancy per module. With 8 modules: about 2,200 kg for a structure weighing about 256 kg. Keep a reserve so the deck does not sit too low.

These figures are a starting point. Our team recalculates every project for its site — depth, tidal range, waves, and the boats using it. A worked example is in How to Calculate Pontoons for a Floating Platform.

Pricing

Floating cube prices

There is no single price for floating cubes — every dock differs in size, load, and location. These are the factors that set the final price:

Number of modules & deck area

A larger dock needs more Nusa Dock modules. One module covers about 1.5 m² of deck.

Load to support

The number of people, equipment, and berthing boats decides whether extra modules are needed as a buoyancy reserve.

Accessories

Railings, cleats, bumpers, a gangway to shore, and ladders are added as needed.

Mooring system

Piles with pile guides, anchors with chains, or ties to the shore — chosen by water depth and tidal range.

Location & shipping

Freight from Sentul, Bogor, to the project site, including access for unloading.

Installation

Assembly and installation by our team, or on-site guidance if you assemble it yourself.

FAQ

Floating cube FAQ

How is the Nusa Dock floating cube different from a standard floating cube?
There are two main differences. First, size: Nusa Dock measures 150 × 100 cm, 6× larger than a standard floating cube, which is usually 50 × 50 cm — so one Nusa Dock module replaces six standard cubes and there are far fewer joints. Second, the inside: standard floating cubes are usually hollow, while Nusa Dock is filled with CFC-free polyurethane insulation.
What is the buoyancy of one Nusa Dock floating cube?
One Nusa Dock module measures 150cm x 100cm x 40cm with a buoyancy of 275 kg. The total buoyancy of a dock is the number of modules multiplied by that figure.
What is the difference between LLDPE and HDPE floating cubes?
Both are polyethylene. LLDPE is more flexible, so it resists impact and cracking better as the dock keeps moving with the water, while HDPE is stiffer. See the full comparison in LLDPE vs HDPE.
Can floating cubes be used at sea?
Yes. LLDPE is UV-resistant and does not rust, so it suits seawater, brackish water, and fresh water. For open water with strong waves and currents, the mooring system must be engineered before installation.
How are floating cube docks moored?
A floating cube dock can be moored with piles and pile guides, anchors with chains or ropes, or ties to the shore. The choice depends on depth, tidal range, and the seabed — see how tides affect a dock.
How much do floating cubes cost?
The final price depends on the number of modules, accessories (railings, cleats, gangway), the mooring system, and shipping to your site. Send us your dimensions or design on WhatsApp for a quote.
Do you ship outside Java and outside Indonesia?
Yes. Our projects range from Bogor, Jakarta, and Bali to Balikpapan, the Selayar Islands, and Brunei Darussalam. See our guide to shipping modular pontoons.
